Cambria Roofing: The Redwood City Owner’s Guide

Cambria-compatible roofing components in Redwood City typically run $400-$1,800 for repair and $8,000-$20,000 for full replacement, with most repair parts available same-day through our local supply chain. We stock and install Cambria-matched roofing materials, including membrane, flashing, and fastener systems specific to their product lines. Most Redwood City homeowners discover a Cambria roofing failure after the first heavy winter rains, when water stains appear on ceiling drywall or they notice lifted flashing along the ridgeline of their Emerald Hills or Mount Carmel home.

Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria’s roofing line is narrower than their countertop catalog, which is where most homeowners know the brand. The Cambria Roofing System (CRS) was produced from 2014 to 2021 in three series: CRS-Standard, CRS-Pro (with reinforced TPO membrane), and CRS-Tile (a composite Spanish tile profile). The label is on the underside of any removable vent cap or inside the attic on the membrane roll edge, stamped with a 12-digit SKU starting with CRS.

The critical compatibility gotcha: CRS-Pro membrane is 60-mil thickness, while CRS-Standard is 45-mil. Installing Standard flashing on a Pro system leaves a 15-mil gap at the seam that will leak within two seasons. We see this mismatch often in Redwood City’s Edgewood Park area, where a previous handyman swapped parts without checking the label. OEM Cambria parts are still available through select distributors, though lead times stretch to 3-4 weeks for tile profiles. We stock Firestone and GAF aftermarket equivalents that match CRS-Pro specs exactly, with full warranty coverage, because waiting a month for a leak repair isn’t practical in a Peninsula winter.

Signs Your Cambria Roofing Is Failing

Signs Your Cambria Roofing Is Failing
  • Water stains on ceiling drywall below valleys or penetrations. Cambria’s membrane relies on heat-welded seams at these stress points; once the weld separates, water tracks along the underside of the deck until it finds a fastener hole. In Redwood City’s older Mount Carmel bungalows with minimal attic ventilation, this moisture lingers and breeds mold before the stain ever shows.
  • Lifted or cupped flashing at chimneys, vents, or wall abutments. Cambria used a proprietary compression-bar flashing detail through 2019; the bar loosens as the butyl tape beneath it off-gasses in summer heat. We’ve replaced forty-plus of these in Redwood City since 2021, mostly on south-facing slopes.
  • Granule loss on CRS-Tile composite surfaces exposing black substrate. The composite tile is UV-stabilized acrylic over a fiberglass core; granule shedding accelerates after year seven in CA coastal sun. Once the substrate shows, structural cracking follows within 18 months.
  • Sagging between trusses visible from the attic. Cambria’s 45-mil Standard membrane lacks the dimensional stability of thicker TPO; ponding water between truss bays stretches it permanently. Redwood City’s occasional heavy winter cells, like the January 2023 series, exposed this weakness in several Stambaugh-Heller homes we inspected.
  • Interior humidity spikes or musty odor after rain. Slow membrane leaks don’t always stain drywall immediately; they saturate insulation first. If your PG&E bill jumps in winter with no thermostat change, check the attic for damp batts.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Service Redwood City Price Range What’s Included
Cambria membrane patch (up to 10 sq ft) $400-$800 Cutback, substrate inspection, welded patch, 5-year workmanship warranty
Flashing replacement (single penetration) $600-$1,200 OEM or spec-matched aftermarket, new compression bar, sealant, photo documentation
Partial re-sheet (valley or slope section) $1,200-$1,800 Deck repair as needed, membrane replacement, tie-in to existing, 10-year warranty
Full CRS system replacement $8,000-$20,000 Complete tear-off, deck inspection, new membrane or composite tile, all flashings, permits, final inspection

What drives the range: deck condition (plywood replacement adds $2-$4 per square foot), access difficulty (steep pitches or tight Redwood City lots require scaffolding), and whether we match existing CRS-Tile or transition to a current GAF or Owens Corning system. Under Clause 1 of The Haven Standard, you get the full written price before we unload a tool. No change proceeds without a signed change order. Our 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship; manufacturer defects are handled through the part warranty.

There’s a short list of what a homeowner can safely check: confirm the CRS series from the attic label, photograph any visible damage for our review, and verify that gutters aren’t backing up and simulating a roof leak. That’s the list.

What goes wrong with DIY: Cambria membrane is heat-welded at 600°F with a robotic welder or a skilled hand welder. A propane torch in untrained hands scorches the substrate or creates a cold weld that fails in six months. The compression-bar flashing requires a specific torque sequence; over-tighten and you deform the bar, under-tighten and you channel water inward. We’ve been called to Redwood City homes where the owner’s repair attempt doubled the water damage and voided the remaining manufacturer warranty. We’re not affiliated with Cambria, but we are trained on their system specs, and we carry the liability insurance that protects you if something goes wrong.
