Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover manufactures several driveway and paver product lines, and the part you need depends on when your system was installed and which series was specified. The Cover Classic series, common in Redwood City installations from 2012 to 2019, uses a 2.4-inch thick concrete paver with a proprietary interlock profile that differs from the Cover Pro series introduced in 2020, which shifted to a 2.75-inch thickness and a revised edge restraint clip system. Signs Your Cover Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

• Pavers rocking or tilting underfoot. This usually means the bedding sand layer has washed out or compacted unevenly, often because the joint sand failed and allowed water to migrate downward. In Redwood City, where clay-heavy soil in neighborhoods like Mount Carmel expands and contracts with winter rains, this happens faster than Cover’s published specs suggest.
• Standing water 30 minutes after rain ends. The permeable joint material or drainage channels are clogged with sediment, or the original pitch was insufficient for the actual runoff volume. Cover pavers are dense enough to resist surface absorption, so persistent efflorescence points to a subsurface issue, not the paver itself.

DIY or Call Us?

There is safe homeowner maintenance and there is work that requires proper tools and substrate knowledge. You can replenish joint sand with a broom and plate compactor rental, and you can spot-seal with a pump sprayer if the surface is clean and dry. But removing settled pavers to regrade the bedding layer, or diagnosing why water is not percolating, requires understanding the original installation stack and having the laser level and compaction equipment to restore it.
