Which CWS Models This Applies To

CWS produces several driveway and paver systems, and the part you need depends on the series stamped on your original invoice or the edge restraint profile visible where the driveway meets the lawn. The CWS Pro-Loc series, common in Redwood City installations from 2015-2020, uses a 1.5-inch PVC edge restraint with integrated stake pockets spaced every 12 inches. The newer CWS Titan series switched to a 2-inch aluminum restraint with a different stake pattern - the two are not interchangeable without redrilling.

To identify your system, measure the exposed edge restraint height and count the stake holes per linear foot. If you see “CWS-PL” molded into the plastic, you have Pro-Loc. “CWS-TN” indicates Titan. DIY or Call Us?

There’s honest work a homeowner can do: sweep fresh polymeric sand into open joints after a rain, check that downspouts aren’t dumping directly onto the driveway edge, and photograph any cracking for reference. What we don’t recommend is lifting settled pavers yourself - the bedding sand layer needs precise grading, and without a plate compactor and laser level, you’ll likely create low spots that pool worse than before.

Edge restraint replacement looks simple but isn’t. The restraint stakes are driven 8 inches into compacted base; removing them without disturbing the adjacent bedding layer takes experience.
