The Moen QuickMount vent series (QM-100 through QM-400) uses a proprietary 5.75-inch base flange that does not interchange with standard 6-inch Oatey or Sioux Chief equivalents. If your vent cap reads “Moen” but the flange is stamped “Interline” or “RPS,” you have a first-generation unit, 2009-2014, and the replacement gasket is a different profile than current stock.

To identify your unit, check the underside of the vent cap for a raised date code and look at the flange bolt pattern: four bolts at 90 degrees means current generation; three bolts at 120 degrees means first-gen, and the gasket is NLA from Moen. DIY or Call Us?

There’s a safe middle ground here. A homeowner can check the vent cap for looseness, look for visible cracks in the rubber collar from the attic side with a flashlight, and clear debris from the cap screen. Do not, however, attempt to remove or reseat a Moen vent assembly yourself. The flange is secured with roofing nails under overlapping shingles, and prying without knowing the nail pattern tears the waterproofing. More critically, working on a roof slope above 4:12 without fall protection is how emergency room visits happen.
