• Water pools at post bases after rain. Where DIY goes wrong with Sakrete fence work is almost always timing and technique. Fast-Setting Mix begins initial set in 20 minutes at 70 degrees; on a Redwood City morning in the low 50s, that window stretches but doesn’t forgive a post that’s out of plumb. The 5000 Plus mix needs proper water ratio, about 2.7 quarts per 60-pound bag, and too dry means weak, too wet means shrinkage cracks.
