Here’s the compatibility gotcha: the TD-300 grate measures 19.7 inches by 19.7 inches, but the TD-200 frame is 15.75 inches square. We’ve seen homeowners order a TD-300 grate for a TD-200 frame because both list “residential” in the product name. The measurement is the only reliable match.

For OEM versus aftermarket, Toto grates are cast iron with a baked epoxy finish that holds up about 12 to 15 years in Redwood City’s marine-influenced climate before the finish chalks and rust starts at the edges. Aftermarket equivalents from NDS and ACO run 30 to 40 percent less, but the powder coat is typically thinner. We quote both, explain the lifespan difference, and let the owner decide. Signs Your Toto Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

• Grate sits proud of the frame or won’t seat flush. The frame has settled, or the bedding mortar has eroded. This is a tripping hazard and it means water is bypassing the drain entirely, running under the frame and undermining the substrate.
• Silt or sand erupting from joints between pavers during rain. The permeable base is overloaded, either because the PP-20 was specified where PP-40 was needed for the soil’s percolation rate, or because the aggregate has compacted and no longer drains fast enough for the volume.
